Product Review: Dr Jart+, Urban Decay, Huda Beauty, Sole De Janeiro and Supergoop!

Updated: Jan 15, 2023

Some people have been busy getting the best deals for the products they have had an eye on for a long time - I am one of those people.

look fantastic haul. Dr Jart, Urban Decay, Huda beauty, Supergoop and Sol de Janeiro

I have been seeing some most used and positively reviewed products from various brands on TikTok and Twitter and wanted to try them out for myself. I wanted to try out specific products that would make my makeup and overall self-care routine work best with my acne-prone and combination skin. So, here is the list of products you will find reviewed in this blog (don't worry, all products are linked in their titles):

I have been using these products for a minimum of four months so I'm ready to give my honest opinions on each. This review is solely based on my skin type (acne-prone and combination) and complexion (light-brown olive skin).

My first impression of this was thinking it was a treatment to include in my skincare routine but no. This fragrance-free skin care product is a green-coloured cream that neutralizes the red tones on your skin and turns from green to the colour of your skin tone the more you massage it! I thought it would only turn a beige colour but it really does pick up pigment from your skin and transform the cream into something that can be used as a bb cream, concealer or corrector before your makeup.

After wearing it a whole day out at university, I can say it oxidized into my skin very well. It reduced the appearance of red marks and post-acne scars significantly. I simply used a facewash to clean my makeup and came off without hassle. The package itself is of course green and comes with a mini plastic spoon to help apply it to your skin.

Dr Jart Cicapair colour correcting treatment - open boxed review. Honest review on brown girl skin

The only downfall of this, so far, be careful not to use too much otherwise it will cake and won't look natural so start with a little and build if needed.

So, if you also have red tones from acne scars, around your nose or between your eyebrows, then I highly recommend you give this product a try. It's also available in 15ml for £13.50 currently on the Look Fantastic site - so perfect for your to trail before investing in a full-sized one.

Suitable for: All skin types - shade of powder varies.

I have been using this for over 8 months now and when I tell you this doesn't budget my concealer under my eyes! I know a lot of girls like to bake - leave the powder on for a few minutes before brushing it off - but you can skip that step with this product.

I simply pat some on the areas I have applied concealer and the areas that tend to crease i.e. smile lines, forehead lines and of-course under-eyes and brush the excess off immediately and I'm set for the day!

Huda Beauty easy bake loose powder in banana - honest review

The packaging itself is reliable as the lids lock the powder in and Huda has made sure there is enough in there to last you a long time. Not to forget the smell - omg - I love scented makeup and this smell is subtly like oud and Arabian which adds to your experience of using this product. The powder is soft so doesn't feel heavy on the skin and quite pigmented so a little does go a long way.

I would recommend dupes but honestly, I don't think I'm changing my setting powder anytime soon. You can get this at a reasonable price during season sales so watch out look Fantastic and Cult Beauty sales. I managed to get it for £22!

I have been using the La Riche Posay sunscreen for over a year but wanted something more moisturising. I saw Aysha Harun recommend this sunscreen and ordered it immediately.

This gel-based sunscreen (unlike la Roche Posey liquid-based sunscreen) can be used as a primer as it's clear and leaves no white cast! I found it did last me a whole day. My concealer set onto this very nicely and it didn't not cake. It's very lightweight and easy to blend.

Supergoop! unseen sunscreen and glow screen review

SPF 30 is perfect for winter and everyday wear. I try to wear it every day as sunscreen as it helps reduce the chances and appearance of wrinkles and sun damage. Although there isn't much sun in the winter, this sunscreen will provide you with the perfect protection of deflecting UV light and neutralises the blue light we expose our skin to through device usage.

So if you are looking for a change, then I would recommend this sunscreen, currently on Cult Beauty - link in title!

I decided to buy a different setting spray than my usual go-to which is the Mac fix spray. The all nighter spray definitely feels different and dries quicker. In terms of how long the makeup stays, it did make my concealer last longer under my eyes and around my nose which is a plus for me.

I was also doing indoor activities such as go-karting and VR gaming while wearing makeup with this spray and the makeup transfer to the helmets was actually less than I thought, in fact, it was barely there.

The spray bottle is a decent size so I think it will last me at least 6 months, maybe more because I don't wear makeup everyday. So far, I don't see any problems with this spray, I will continue to use it until it finishes and hope do another full review.

Suitable for: Those who like a strong Arabian scent

I bought this only because this is known as the Baccarat Rouge 540 dupe. Unlike the famous perfume, this is a body mist - a relatively strong scent but I feel it would need to be re-spray during the day. I don't use this every day but I definitely do when going out for dinner and a day out.

I'll be honest, it did give me a headache at first because of how strong it is when you first spray it so, if you easily get irritated by strong scents then I would recommend you test this scent out before buying it.

Baccarat rouge dupe Sol De Janiero in 68

The bottle size is actually bigger than I thought so it will last a long time. If you are a fan of strong, Arabian-type scents - with a hint of lavender, this body mist with essential oils is for you. This mist will have you smelling like London's prestige, rich girl vibe.

This is not available on many sites but found it on offer on Look Fantastic and linked it in the title - so get yours now!
